Holiday season is just around the corner, which means sooner or later we'll all be
dusting off our favorite seasonal scans and screencaps. So why not get a head start?

>> Sign up by submitting a scan to be added to the pool. Sign ups will close Monday, October 31.
>> A submission post will be put up later with all of the images pooled together for easy access.
>> You get to make one icon for every image in that post!
>> There will be a huge Showcase with all of the icons, and I'll promo everybody's graphics journal.
>> Ideally, I'd like to post the Showcase for this challenge on December 1, so the final deadline will be set sometime during the last week of November.

>> Images should have a winter, holiday, or seasonal quality to them in some way. It can be subtle, though.
>> This battle is open to all animated works, like anime, tv shows, video games, movies, comics, etc.
>> Scans and caps should be HQ.
>> Please do not submit NSFW imagery.

Please use this format when signing up!

Feel free to invite your friends to join in!

Comments are not screened, so feel free to see what other makers picked before you select your scan, or get a head start on your submissions.

In this battle, our participants brought color and life to the beautiful
black and white panels of our favorite mangaka's works.

Round 10 at animated20in20 was a Mystery Box challenge, which means I had to use the provided resources in my box in order to create a set of icons. I went crazy, as you can see here, but it was a lot of fun!

Because I'm hosting a manga icon battle, I thought it would be great to get into the spirit of things by creating an inspiration post featuring icons that use manga scans in creative ways.

Many assume that using manga as the starting point of an icon requires
you to learn how to color the scans. That's a great way to go, but there are other
techniques you can use without needing to pull up references and tutorials beforehand.

Make use of the raw scans by highlighting the halftones, lines, and even the original
black & white of manga. There's nothimg more beautiful than the mangaka's raw artwork.
